__

A three star hotel , built in earthquake Zone 5 in the Himalayas, commissioned in 1994, this project explored the combination of building with RCC but within the distinctive Himalayan style . Forty rooms , one restaurant and a bar along with some other facilities, this project was completed in 19 months through two Himalayan winters . The assignment included both architecture and project management . The building contains very little brick masonry , and is largely built of cement concrete foam blocks made in situ in a plant installed at the site . Local timber flooring in most rooms , and a lot of local handicrafts used in the interior of the building . This hotel is one of three which were designed by the practice in the early 1990s in the hill town of Manali, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh .
